Different Types of Low Pressure Pumps

 

Lobed Blowers

Uses a pair of timed two or three lobed rotor shafts in a shaped bore to create air movement. The same air end can be used to attain different pressures and flow by altering the ratio of the belt drive pulleys and if required, the motor size. This design gives high flow rates with pressures to around 1.5 Bar.

Claw Compressors

Uses claw technology to attain pressures to around 2 Bar. Quite compact compared to lobed blowers with no drive belts to change, but flow rates can be less.

Side Channels Blowers

Widely Available and cheap, model ranges can be large to cover various options of pressure and flow up to just over 1 Bar. Side channel blowers are not as efficient as claw pumps, but can give much higher flow rates at low pressures.

Rotary Vane Pumps

Usually carbon vaned dry running compressors, most popular in smaller sizes. Can be used for pressures up to around 1.5 Bar.
